Check and purchase SMS credits
Review the account SMS balance and purchase credits used for alert and Panic Button text notifications.
Track My Ride uses one SMS credit each time it sends an alert by text message. Check the balance before relying on SMS for alerts or Panic Button notifications. Some plans show a monthly complimentary allowance separately from credits you purchase.
Before you start
You must use the top-level account, which is the main account with full administrative access, to purchase credits. Have the account's payment details available. The purchase creates a charge, so confirm the current price, quantity and total at checkout before approving it.
Steps
- Open Settings > Account.
- Find SMS CREDITS and review purchased and complimentary balances.
- Select Purchase SMS credits.
- Choose from the available quantities.
- Review the quantity, total charge and payment details.
- Complete the secure payment prompt once.
- Return to Settings > Account and confirm that the balance increased by the expected amount.
What happens next
Enabled alerts and Panic Button notifications use a credit when SMS is selected as a notification channel. Purchasing credits does not enable SMS on an alert automatically; confirm that each required rule or Panic Button contact has SMS selected. Fleet Metrics complimentary credits reset on the first day of each month in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
Troubleshooting
- The balance does not update: Refresh the Account page and check the payment result or billing history before purchasing again. This avoids an accidental duplicate charge.
- SMS is still not sent after purchase: Confirm that SMS is selected on the alert or Panic Button contact, the phone number is valid and the event appears in Alert History.
- Complimentary credits appear to reset on a different local date: The displayed monthly reset uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which can fall on a different local date or time.
- The purchase control is unavailable: Confirm that you are using the top-level account. A sub-account user must ask the top-level account manager to purchase credits.
- The charge or balance is unexpected: Record the displayed balance and payment result, then contact Support before making another purchase. Do not send full payment-card details.
