Use Settings > Application Settings to control how Track My Ride opens, how the main map looks and behaves, and how journeys end and are classified for reports.
Before you start
Most General and Map settings are preferences for the current login. Journey Settings affect account reporting, are available only to the top-level account, and are hidden on the Lite plan.
Journey classification marks travel as business or private. Changing its default or automatic rules can alter how existing, unmodified journeys appear in reports. Manually modified journeys keep their manual classification. Record the current values before making a significant change, then test the result over a short report period.
Some controls appear only when the account has the required feature or hardware. Stationary merge distance appears when an interval or battery tracker is present, and Snap to road appears only when that service is available.
Steps
- Open Settings > Application Settings.
- Review each group below and change only the settings needed for the intended workflow.
- Select Save. Track My Ride confirms the save and asks whether to apply the settings now. If you accept, the application reloads. If you decline, the saved settings apply when the app next loads.
General Settings
Colours
Enable Dark Mode to use the application's dark colour theme for this login. Disable it to use the standard light theme.
Home page
Chooses the first available page shown after sign-in or reload: Map, Vehicles, People, Alerts, My Journeys, Reports, Dashboard or Location Sharing (App). Page availability still depends on the login's permissions and enabled features.
Location Sharing Setup
Show displays the Location Sharing setup page in the iOS and Android app. Hidden removes that setup entry for this login. Hiding the setup page does not deactivate an already linked phone or stop active sharing.
Map Settings
Map defaults and marker appearance
Seconds before stopped
Controls only when a stop marker appears on the map and in playback. Enter 60–86,400 seconds; the default is 300 seconds. It does not split journeys in reports. Use End of journey under Journey Settings for that.
Stationary merge distance (m)
For interval and battery trackers, combines consecutive stationary playback locations that are within 1–1,000 metres of one another. A larger value merges a wider cluster of stationary points. The default is 100 m. This does not change the tracker data itself.
Vehicle sort order
Most recent activity puts recently reporting vehicles first. Name ascending sorts A–Z and Name descending sorts Z–A in the vehicle list beside the map.
Paths to display
Chooses how much previous path is drawn on the normal live map: None, 5, 15 or 30 minutes, or 1, 2, 6, 12 or 24 hours. A longer period draws more history and can make a busy fleet map denser.
Playback to display
Chooses the initial history period loaded when a vehicle or person's map marker is selected for playback: 15 or 30 minutes, or 1, 2, 6, 12 or 24 hours. This is a default view period, not a retention limit.
Map tile style
Street map uses labelled road tiles. Satellite map uses aerial imagery. This changes the base layer, not recorded positions or paths.
Map marker style
Select Supreme, Hawaiian, Thin and crispy, Round vehicle icon, or Round vehicle icon with direction. The preview shows the selected style. This changes marker appearance only.
Map marker size
Move the slider from XXS (70%) through Default (100%) to XXL (130%). This scales map markers for this login without changing their location or the shared-map marker styles configured on a sub-account.
Map behaviour, layers and popup details
Group markers
Combines markers that are close together into a cluster so dense areas are easier to select. Disable it to keep individual markers visible.
Label map markers
Shows the vehicle or person name above each marker. Labels can overlap in dense areas, where grouping may help.
Auto-fit map to markers
Fits the map to show all current markers after position updates when the user has not interacted with the map for four minutes. Disable it when the map should remain at the manually selected area and zoom.
Snap to road
Draws recorded paths against the nearest road. The result is approximate and may differ from the actual route; movement below 15 km/h is not snapped. This changes path presentation, not stored GPS points.
Paths layer
Shows recent vehicle and Location Sharing paths on the main map, using the Paths to display period.
Zones layer
Shows configured map zones on the main map. Disabling the layer hides zone shapes but does not delete zones or stop zone alerts and classifications.
Heatmap layer
Shows a heatmap of the areas most travelled by permitted vehicles and people. Disable it for a clearer standard map.
Show map marker coordinates
Adds latitude and longitude to the marker popup.
Show map marker closest address
Adds the closest resolved street address to the marker popup. Address lookup is an interpretation of coordinates and may not identify the exact property or entrance.
Show exact timestamps
Shows exact update dates and times instead of relative wording such as “5 minutes ago” for map vehicles and people.
Enhanced satellite map zoom
Allows one additional zoom level on the main satellite map. Imagery may be unavailable or lower quality at that level in some areas.
Journey Settings
Journey completion and default classification
Driver auto logoff
Disabled leaves the current person assigned to the vehicle. The hardware-only option logs the person off at the end of a journey when the engine was turned off. This helps prevent Driver ID users from remaining assigned to the next journey. It does not apply to phone-only Location Sharing.
End of journey
Controls when Track My Ride finishes one journey in reports after the vehicle stops: 3, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes. A shorter period creates more separate journeys; a longer period is more likely to keep a brief stop inside one journey. It does not control map stop markers; Seconds before stopped does that.
Journeys default to
Sets unmodified journeys to Private or Business when no higher-priority automatic rule classifies them. Changing this setting updates how existing unmodified journeys appear in reports; manual classifications are preserved.
Automatic classification precedence
Journey auto classification chooses which configured sources classify a journey and their order of precedence. In the displayed arrow order, a source farther to the right overrides a source to its left when more than one matches.
Disabled
Does not automatically classify from rosters, reservations or zones; the journey default or manual classification applies.
Rosters → Reservations → Zones
Uses all three; zones have highest priority, then reservations, then rosters. This is the default.

Uses all three; zones have highest priority, then rosters, then reservations.

The classification configured on a matching roster, reservation or zone supplies the Business or Private result. The settings below affect roster and reservation time matching only; they do not alter zone matching.
Roster and reservation matching
Roster & reservation matching
Either journey start or stop time must be within matches when either endpoint falls inside the configured period. Both journey start & stop time must be within requires the full journey to fit. Match journey start time only checks only departure, while Match journey stop time only checks only arrival.
Roster & reservation padding
Disabled uses the configured period exactly. Pad both start & end time extends both edges; Pad start time extends earlier only; Pad end time extends later only. Padding can include journeys just before or after a roster or reservation.
Padding amount
Chooses how far the selected edge or edges extend, from 5 minutes through 24 hours using the listed increments. Disabled adds no time. Large padding can make unrelated journeys match, so start with the smallest interval that covers the operational tolerance.
What happens next
Your display preferences apply after the application reloads. Journey reports use the updated rules wherever automatic classification applies. Run Journeys or Journey Summary for a short period when you know the expected results. Confirm that stops, journey boundaries and Business or Private classifications are correct before relying on a longer report.
Troubleshooting
- Journey Settings are missing: Sign in to the top-level account and confirm the subscription includes journey reporting. They are hidden for sub-accounts and the Lite plan.
- Stationary merge distance is missing: It appears only when the account has an interval or battery tracker vehicle.
- Snap to road is missing: The service is not available for this account.
- A selected home page does not open: Confirm the login still has permission for that page and the feature remains enabled, then choose another available home page.
- Map changes do not appear: Reload the application or accept the reload prompt shown after saving.
- Stops appear but journeys do not end at the same time: This is expected when Seconds before stopped and End of journey use different values.
- A journey has an unexpected classification: Check whether it was manually modified, then review the default, auto-classification precedence, source record classification, endpoint matching and padding in that order.
- Too many journeys match a roster or reservation: Reduce the padding amount, pad fewer edges, or require both endpoints to be inside the period.
- Report results changed unexpectedly: Restore the recorded settings, save and rerun the same short report period.
