Both current Track My Ride trackers may be installed in a hybrid or electric vehicle only through its low-voltage 12 V auxiliary electrical system. Never connect a tracker, power cable or test probe to the traction battery, orange high-voltage cables, propulsion electronics or any circuit identified by the vehicle manufacturer as high voltage.
GeoBeetle Wired (TMR-R3): Connect only to a compatible 12 V auxiliary battery using the model guide. Do not connect it to the traction battery, even when the traction-battery voltage appears to fall within another component's rating.
GeoBeetle Pro (TMR-S8) with OBD-II: Use only a manufacturer-provided, compatible OBD-II diagnostic port. Do not use an adapter connected to a high-voltage system.
GeoBeetle Pro (TMR-S8) hardwire: Have a qualified automotive installer identify a suitable 10-30 V low-voltage circuit within the vehicle's 12 V auxiliary system and follow the model-specific fuse and wiring instructions.
Check the vehicle manual before installation because auxiliary-battery location, access, sleep behavior and charging voltage vary by model. Stop and consult the vehicle manufacturer or a qualified hybrid/EV technician if a compatible low-voltage connection cannot be positively identified.
Before you start
Before installing a tracker in a vehicle or equipment used by someone else, read Use GPS tracking responsibly. Confirm ownership or written permission, tell affected people about the tracking and obtain the required consent before continuing.
You need:
The tracker and its supplied power cable or harness.
The model name and Communication ID from the silver label.
A Track My Ride top-level account with an available hardware licence.
The vehicle keys and access to a safe outdoor test location.
Read the complete model guide before starting. Use a qualified automotive installer for fixed wiring, battery connections you are not trained to make, or accessories. Never install a tracker or cable where it could interfere with pedals, steering, airbags, hot components or moving parts.
Choose a dry position where the tracker and its wiring cannot interfere with airbag deployment or become a projectile in a collision. Follow the model's ingress-protection limits and protect every tracker, connector and exposed connection from conditions outside those limits.
Choose a mounting position
Global Positioning System (GPS) signals pass through glass, plastic and fibreglass, but metal and carbon fibre weaken or block them. For an in-cabin tracker, mount it as high as practical under the dashboard with as little metal above it as possible. If that is not possible, try the glove box, under the steering column or on the rear parcel shelf. These positions may provide weaker reception.
Keep the side marked Face this side toward sky facing upward and as level as possible. In a truck with a vertical windscreen, angle the tracker diagonally toward the front windscreen so the metal roof is not directly above its antenna.
Steps
Find the silver label and match its model code to TMR-S8 or TMR-R3 above. Do not choose by shape alone.
Open the matching installation guide and check that its tracker, connector and supplied cable match what you have.
Sign in to the top-level Track My Ride account and start activation with the Communication ID. This is the tracker identifier printed on its label. Keep the tracker powered and follow the activation status shown in the application.

Follow the model guide to connect power and mount the tracker in the correct orientation. Keep all wiring clear of controls, airbags, heat, sharp edges and moving parts.
Move the vehicle outdoors, check the status and GPS lights described in the model guide, then open Map and confirm a recent location.

Drive approximately 1 km and confirm that Track My Ride shows the test route and current location before treating the installation as complete.
If the route is patchy or missing, open Reports > Raw GPS Data and inspect the satellite count. A GPS lock means the tracker has enough satellite signals to calculate its position. Four satellites is the minimum for a lock, six or more is better and eight or more is preferred. Move the tracker to a position with a clearer view of the sky if reception remains weak.
What happens next
The tracker uses a hardware licence and reports locations while it has power, mobile coverage and GPS reception. Keep the Communication ID and model guide with the vehicle's service records, and inspect the mounting and wiring during routine servicing.
Troubleshooting
The model label is missing or unreadable: Do not connect power. Contact Track My Ride Support with clear photos of the tracker, connector and leads. Do not include your account password.
The Communication ID is rejected: Check every character on the silver label and confirm that the tracker is not already assigned to another account.
The tracker has power but does not appear on Map: Confirm its activation status, move the vehicle outdoors and follow the light checks in the model guide.
The tracker acquires GPS only sometimes: Metal above or around the antenna may leave only a narrow view of moving satellites. Reorient or relocate the tracker, test-drive again and compare the satellite count in Raw GPS Data.
Your tracker does not match either model: Stop and ask Support to identify it. Wire colours and connectors from another model's guide may not be compatible.
