Change your account username
Change the email address used to sign in to Track My Ride and confirm the change securely from your existing email account.
Your Track My Ride username is the email address you use to sign in. You can request a new username from Settings > Account, then authorise the change using a confirmation link sent to your existing email address.
Before you start
- You must be signed in to the account whose username you want to change.
- The new username must be a valid email address that is not already used by another Track My Ride account.
- You need access to the account's existing email inbox. Track My Ride sends the confirmation link there, not to the proposed new address.
- If two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled, have the current six-digit authenticator code available.
Changing the username also changes the account's primary contact email after confirmation. It does not change the password.
Steps
- Open Settings > Account.
- Select Update account information.
- Beside Username, select Change Username.
- Confirm that Current username identifies the account you intend to update.
- Enter the new email address under New username.
- If Authenticator code is shown, enter the current six-digit code from your authenticator app.
- Select Update. This submits a request but does not immediately change the username.
- Open the existing email inbox named in the dialog and find the Change your Track My Ride username email.
- Select Confirm my new username in that email. Use the most recent confirmation email if you submitted more than one request.
- After the confirmation page reports success, use the new email address as the username the next time you sign in.
What happens next
Until the confirmation link is opened successfully, the existing username remains active and the Account page may show Changes pending. After confirmation, Track My Ride updates both the sign-in username and primary account email. The password remains unchanged.
Existing signed-in sessions may continue until they expire or are revoked. Use Settings > Security to review sessions when the username change was prompted by an access or security concern.
Troubleshooting
- If the new username matches the current username, enter a different email address.
- If the email address is already linked to another Track My Ride account, use another address or recover access to the existing account instead.
- If the 2FA code is rejected, use the current code shown by the authenticator app. After repeated failures, wait 60 seconds before trying again.
- If the confirmation email does not arrive, check spam and filtering rules for the existing email inbox. Confirm that you are checking the address named in the dialog.
- If you submitted several requests, older links may be invalid. Open the newest confirmation email.
- If the link reports that the request expired or is invalid, return to Settings > Account and submit a new request.
- If you no longer have access to the existing email address, contact Track My Ride Support. Never send Support your password, authenticator code or backup codes.
