Network and Communications
3G Network End Of Life – As of 28 October 2024, the 3G networks have been shutdown in Australia. Unfortunately this means that legacy tracker models TMR-S1, TMR-S5 and TMR-S7 sold before 2020 are now obsolete. What networks does Track My Ride use for GPS tracking?
Track My Ride utilises the national 4G networks provided by Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. Our hardware will automatically connect to the network with the strongest signal.
Do I need to purchase a SIM card for Track My Ride?
No need to fit your own SIM card to Track My Ride devices. All our hardware comes with a specialised SIM card built-in, making setup hassle-free. All data and roaming across the 3 mobile networks is included in your subscription plan.
How can I check if my area is covered?
We recommend checking our coverage maps for network availability. Keep in mind that while we strive for accuracy, local conditions and other factors may affect your experience. You can find our guide to Australian network coverage on our website at https://www.trackmyride.com.au/coverage
What happens in areas with no network coverage?
If you're in a blackspot or outside network coverage, your Track My Ride GPS tracker stores its location data internally. It's automatically uploaded once you return to network coverage. The TMR-S8 model can store up to 400,000 points internally (Way more than you will ever need to store!).
What technology is used for GPS tracking?
When you think of GPS, you probably only know of the United State's GPS satellites. We actually use a combination of three different Global Navigation Satellite Systems being GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo to keep track of your vehicle. This ensures quicker, more accurate, and dependable tracking for your peace of mind. Typically Track My Ride GPS tracking hardware is accurate to 5 metres or less.
