Map sharing & embedding your map

Map sharing & embedding your map

Info
Note: This feature isn't included in all plans — please check our pricing page to see if your plan supports it. You’ll need to have the sub-accounts feature enabled.

With our map sharing feature, you can show others (clients, customers, stakeholders) where your vehicles are now, without giving them full access to your tracking system.
You can give them:

  • A simple link (URL) they can click to see the live map.

  • Or embed the map right into your website using an "iframe" (i.e., a small window from our system inside your site).

Why this is useful

Because:

  • You keep full control — you decide which vehicles/drivers they see.

  • You can hide sensitive areas (for example employee homes, private warehouses) using “exclusion zones”.

  • Your main account still has full visibility; shared map-viewers can only see what you allow.

How to set it up

Map sharing utilises our sub-account system. Typically sub-accounts are used to give access to your tracking data to a team member or family member so they can have their own unique login to view your tracked assets.

Step 1: Create or Choose a Sub-account

  1. Navigate to the sub-account settings tab

  2. Either pick an existing sub-account or create a new one.
    • Pro tip: If you’re just creating this sub-account for sharing the map (not for someone to log in), you can use a throw-away email (e.g., embeddedmap@yourbusiness.com)

  3. In that sub-account’s settings, choose:

Step 2: Turn on Map Sharing

  1. In that sub-account, go to the “Map Sharing” tab.
  2. Toggle the switch to Active.
  3. A unique "sharing code" (or URL) will be generated for you.
    1. Note: If you just created the sub-account, make sure you save the account first, then click the edit/pencil icon to get the sharing code.

Step 3: Decide how you want to share

      Option A: Direct URL

  • Copy the generated link.
  • Share it with your recipients (via email, message, etc).
  • Recipients just click the link — no login needed.
    • Note : Anyone with the link can view the map, so treat it like you would any public share.

Option B: Embed on your website (iframe)

  1. Copy the HTML iframe code we provide.
  2. Paste that code into your website in the place you want the map to appear.
  3. You can change the “width” and “height” in the code to match your site’s layout.

Step 4: Save your changes

Once everything is set (sub-account settings, sharing turned on, method selected), make sure you hit "Save". Your map sharing is now live.

Privacy & Security Highlights

Exclusion Zones

Hide certain geographic areas from the shared map (e.g., employee homes, sensitive business locations). When a vehicle enters one of those zones, it disappears from the shared map view; when it leaves, it reappears. Learn about how to setup exclusion zones in our support article.

  • Hide specific geographic areas from view
  • Vehicles "disappear" when entering excluded zones
  • Tracking resumes when vehicles exit the zone
  • Perfect for protecting:
    • Employee home addresses
    • Sensitive business locations
    • Warehouse locations
    • Strategic delivery points

Access Control

  • You pick exactly which vehicles and drivers are visible to the shared sub-account.
  • Your main account remains fully visible to you.
  • If you ever suspect someone has too much access, you can regenerate a new sharing code which invalidates the old one (won’t work anymore). If you embedded the map in a website, you’d need to update the iframe with the new code too.

Important Things to Know

  • The shared map shows only live/current locations. You will not share historical/tracking data with viewers.
  • As vehicles move, their positions update in real-time on the shared map.
  • The map sharing respects the sub-account’s permissions and any exclusion zones you set.
  • You can turn map sharing off or on at any time without changing the sharing code.
  • If you generate a new sharing code for security, the old one stops working immediately. If embedded, you must update your website with the new code.

Technical Requirements

  • Recipients of the direct URL don’t need any special software; they just need a web browser.
  • If you’re embedding the map on your website via iframe:
    • Your website must allow iframe embedding.
    • You should have access to edit your website’s HTML (so you can paste code).
    • If you’re unsure, you might need a web developer or your website’s technical person to help. Our support team cannot edit your website’s HTML for you.
