My vehicle is parked in the driveway at 106 Stawell St but the GPS is showing the address as 102.
GPS technology is generally very accurate, often pinpointing locations
within a few meters. However, it’s not uncommon to see small
discrepancies where your device may show you being a few street numbers away
from your actual location.
To save power, our GPS trackers enter an sleep mode when not in use. While in this mode the unit will continue to check in with our servers, however, will not gain a new GPS loc as this requires a greater power draw from the vehicle.
Resolution
Small discrepancies in GPS location are common and generally nothing to be concerned about. These minor variations often occur when the device is stationary or has recently stopped. Once you begin moving again, the GPS re-calibrates and updates more frequently, usually correcting the location within a few seconds.
Typically when this happens often, it's caused by the tracker having dislodged from its original installation location and fallen into somewhere in the vehicle where it can no longer see enough satellites to acquire a GPS signal lock. The GPS antennas are built into the inside of the tracker, so it's important to ensure the side marked "Face this side towards sky" is still facing the sky, and unobstructed by metal as metal will block the GPS signal. Plastic, glass and fiberglass are fine, as GPS signals can pass through those. If you continue to notice discrepancies, you may wish inspect the location of the tracker to ensure it can still acquire a GPS signal in it's current installed location.
